Location: Underway to Tahiti!

Today I (Kirby) was skipper. I had an early start to the day with the 12 am-4 am watch where we talked about a lot of things but, most importantly, a seamester trip for dogs. This was discussed in grave detail by Drew, Ted, Charlie, and myself. After watch, I was madly tired, so I went straight to bed. I awoke at the wonderful hour of 10:00 am and proceeded to go up on deck where watch team 2 was doing their duty of watching. That was where the splendid photo of myself and Fargo in the buffs was taken. Sidenote: Fargo and I have gone 14 days without a shirt or any other garment that covers the top half of our people. After hanging around up on deck for a bit, lunch commenced at 12pm. It was a wonderful course of risotto with some sort of sauce covering it, along with bread made by Sammy. We also had Snickerdoodle cookies made by Allie. After lunch, I took over the helm and absolutely crushed it. I was on course the whole time with impeccable trim. Once cleanup was finished, I retired from the helm and headed to class, where we had a marine bio exam in the salon, which was boiling hot, but we survived both the heat and the exam. What happened after that exam, you may be wondering? Well, another exam. This time in the VHF course where we answered questions about VHF and other such things related to VHF, which we had learned about in the course titled VHF course.

After the VHF course exam, I went and hung out in my bunk for approximately a period of time that I can’t quite recall before I went to the salon and worked on my group project and created an impressive graph displaying the data we had collected on both the Atlantic and Pacific side of Panama. What happened next? I went back to my bunk for another period of time that occurred and then went and finished up my species ID, where I ID’d the multitude of marine organisms I had spotted in the Galapagos, including a white tip reef shark, a black tip reef shark, a hammerhead shark, a manta ray, an eagle ray, a sea lion, a sea urchin, a moray eel and my personal favorite, boobies! (of the blue-footed species). Then, you may have guessed by now, I went back to my bunk for a little before heading up to dinner, which was fried cabbage or some with sauces and bacon in it, and it was gas. I ain’t even gon lie. After dinner, we had a squeeze, where I asked the important question, “What country would you be from if you had to be from another country than the one you are currently from, and what is the reason for you choosing this other country that you would like to be from that you aren’t?”. There were a lot of answers to it, I’d say around 31, and throughout those 31 or so, there were some good answers. Some of these answers included Greece, Netherlands, Austria, Canada, Burundi, Australia, and Brazil. You may have noticed that I left out the second part, which would be to answer, “…and what is the reason for you choosing this other country that you would like to be from that you aren’t?”. I did this because I forgot. I am currently in the chart house writing this blog that you are currently reading. Not sure what else to write about because I have written about what has happened today, so I am including a beauteous photo of the sky from Vela and an even more beauteous photo of my mullet because why not. Anyways, I have run out of ideas of what to write, so I am writing this sentence to let you know that I am done writing. I think if I write this, it will make the blog look longer, which makes it look better, so I am writing this run-on sentence for vanity’s sake.
