Good morning, friends, family, and anyone else who may be reading this blog. Today was a very jam-packed and eventful day for us here on Argo. For the last few nights, we have been anchored in a beautiful anchorage in Soller, Mallorca. We woke up bright and early at 7 am and had homemade granola bars prepared by our chefs, Faith, Ian, and Derek, along with yogurt. After breakfast, we boarded the dinghys and headed for our first day of town exploration. We started the morning with beach games led by Nicole, including a life jacket relay race, a sand sculpture contest, and synchronized swimming. During our relay race, we were handed three life jackets and were tasked with reaching the finish line without touching the sand. This proved quite difficult, but watch team one was able to pull off a successful win. Our sand sculpture contest was very open-ended; we were allowed to create whatever we wanted, but we also had to include a story about our art or character that we created. Watch team one dug a hole for B and turned him into a merman named Obeseious, watch team two buried Lily into the sand and made it appear as though she was being eaten by a fish, lastly watch team three created a manta ray which was the previous Argo mantaray on past voyages. After tough deliberation between Charlie and Nicole, Team Two won the contest. We then did a synchronized swimming competition. Each team created a dance to the song of their choice; these included a song by Bad Bunny, California Girls, and another Spanish song.
After games were given the rest of the afternoon to see the town of Soller, we enjoyed ice-cold water, Mallorquin/Spanish food, and siestas by the beach. Many of the girls also explored the various cute shops and boutiques and purchased trinkets and clothing items. To finish our afternoon on shore, many of us went to a local grocery store to purchase snacks and other treats before heading back to the boat. We then did ocean showers where Sam, Emory, and Avery all did backflips off the bow. Others attempted to do so but were not quite successful. To end the evening, we had pink pasta for dinner along with green beans and broccoli. It was delicious! Now the crew on Argo is cleaning up and preparing to head on passage again tomorro,w where we hopefully set off to Corsica (if the weather cooperates)!
