Location: Underway to Sorong, Indonesia

7 am wake up to some tunes by the Surfaces. We had some light rain but nothing we couldn’t handle. We had our first morning of oatmeal, which was yummy. We then started cleanup and then right into our VHF exam. We took all that we learned about the very high-frequency life and put it to the test. Everyone was quizzing each other on the phonetic alphabet and ready to go. After that, we went right into passage prep. We had a nice checklist of things to get done all over the boat. As skipper, I was in charge of dishing out jobs, and a perk of that is I got to stay dry :).

We got all of the jobs done that needed to be done before lunch which was amazing. Around 11, everyone started hanging out on deck, in the salon, or hanging out in their bunks with fans. At 12, we had lunch, many peoples’ favorite lunch so far, homemade chicken nuggets! As a vegetarian, I had a yummy bean salad. I never thought of the possibility of a bean salad. It was pretty good! Then after lunch, we got right back into passage prep and finished our last few things on the checklist. After everything was 40/40 and Tim was back from clearing us out of Palau, we pulled up our anchor! Everyone was taking in our last few sights of beautiful Palau for a while. I can confidently say that everyone wants to come back in the future. We used the engine to motor us out until we got past the outer reef, where we were able to hoist the sails for the first time! Everyone was so excited to get them up!

We hoisted the main stay-sail and the forward stay-sail. Super cool. We then all hung out on deck around the cockpit and on the bow enjoying the view and the breeze. Several different people got to take turns learning about the helm and steering Argo for a while. We ate at 5 to beat the darkness and had a yummy meal of polenta. Lucia and I were on bow watch for a while together, and into dinner, so we got to have our yummy meals on the bow together. Lucia is awesome everyone, so sick. Now it is after dinner, and our first watch team (team 3) is on till 8. Then watch team one takes over until midnight and finally watch team 2 (best watch team). We go from midnight to 4 am. Then watch team three takes over again. The stars are beautiful right now, right next to the moon. Talk to you all next time I’m skipper in a month. We had a good day of new adventure over here as we left Palau.
