Greetings from day 100 at sea with no sight of land in any direction; it’s the very life of Pi but without any tigers. It’s actually only day 2 or 3 (it’s so hard to tell). Life on passage is starting to feel pretty natural. The morning personally started off with the 8-12 watch shift. Our new watch team one (Mich, Mac, Chloe, Ruby, Grace C, Watson, Eduardo, Brendan, Boston, and myself) had a dandy time raising a few of the sails and enjoying life without hearing the engine beneath us. It was so quiet (pretty cool (but maybe too quiet(where did all the people go (maybe the tiger ate them(This is Life of Pi)))). Mac taught us to use a tool called the sexton, which uses the sun to determine our position. At noon in Boston, Audrey and Tom cooked us a grilled chicken pesto sandwich for lunch. It was really good (this observation was taken from testimonials from chicken sandwich eaters). After lunch, everyone did their jobs, and then we all gathered in the salon for Marine Biology. It wasn’t really marine biology, though; it was just time for Ben to answer any questions we had about citations for papers. It took about 10 minutes (nothing to write home about). Then we split up into port and starboard to have seamanship class. We learned our final concept before we started reviewing for the test. Lillian and I absolutely demolished it. No one did better than us, especially not Theo and Jesse. After the port absolutely tore it up, starboard went, and I’m sure that they did fine.
Lillian and I then went to the focus with the intention of writing our leadership essays. Instead, we got sidetracked by playing Toca Boca Hair Salon 4 and watching Arrested Development (really good) (would recommend). After this, we went out into the salon to actually work on these essays because they are, in fact, due tomorrow. We finished then in a flash, like the academic weaponz that we are. At this time, Boston and Audrey were back in the galley making dinner, and Boston, having read that dinner includes ten tomatoes, only cut 10 CHERRY TOMATOES. Audrey, Jesse, Lillian, and I were dying because, like, what??? Then, watch team one was called up again for watch, so we were up there for another 15 minutes before dinner was served. It was a veggie pasta bake with more than ten cherry tomatoes in it (and it was covered in something called Boston’s special sauce 🙁 ). For squeeze today, we all shared our appreciation and also discussed what we would do if the person to our left had a snake coming out of their mouth. After this, we did our jobs and ended up here. At some point today, some people saw a sunfish, which they asked me to include, but I don’t know when they saw it, so now feels like a good time to mention it.
Hello to my fans at home and all those who have been long awaiting my return to the keyboard,
