Location: Gorda Sound, BVI

I got an early start to the day with the 5-6 a.m. anchor watch shift, which went right into wake-up around 7. After a breakfast of frittata, we prepped the boat for the sail to Gorda Sound. It was a blustery day, and since we headed into the wind, it made for a rough ride and some pretty steep heeling. Just past Gorda Sound was Necker Island, owned by Sir Richard Branson, so we did a drive-by of his impressive compound. In the process, we somehow managed to lose Oscar (one of our life rings) overboard. We went right into stations, falling off of the wind so we could launch one of our dinghies. Sully and Nick went out and drove around while Ocean Star tacked in a zigzag pattern across the area where Oscar could be. We searched for over an hour, with Kevin being daring and climbing all the way up to the crow’s nest. With everyone starving for lunch, Oscar was finally spotted and recovered by Sully in the dinghy, ending a successful man-overboard drill! We were finally able to have lunch and continue our sail into Gorda Sound. On our way in, we posed for some pictures for ActionQuest; then, we eventually anchored close to Bitter End Yacht Club. After some backflips off the bowsprit and an ocean shower, it was time for dinner and then OCE class. After a day full of sailing and sun, everyone was exhausted and hit their bunks early to have enough energy for tomorrow.
