This morning began with a snorkel through the mangroves. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by a green sea turtle! The students saw many mangrove inhabitants, including baby barracuda and some upside-down jellyfish. After exploring through the roots, the students headed back to Ocean Star, where the PADI open water students took their scuba exam. During the exam, students who were already certified helped move Ocean Star to her new anchoring spot in Leverick Bay. Grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch gave us the energy we needed for our action-packed afternoon of Hobie cat sailing. Students’ knowledge of their points of sail after yesterday’s lecture was put to the test as they set out into the bay. Several hours and a couple of races later, all faces were smiling from ear to ear. To round off a perfect day and to celebrate officially becoming PADI certified divers, students are preparing for their first night out ashore.
