Location: Cocos Keeling

Good morning/night/wherever you are! Today has been an exciting day, especially weather-wise

It started off with a morning drizzle at anchor watch, and it was a calming time to think as I had the 06:00-07:00 watch alone. Veryyy movie-like with sharks popping up here and there as I look out for the reef manta ray. Then, since we have a research project proposal due tonight, Adda and I spent some time this morning working on it. I then got to let people sleep in until 8 am (#welovelatewakeups) and woke people up to 1:a gangen by Miss Li.

Then, after a yummy yogurt breakfast, we got ready to go on an optional adventure to Home Island! Another island that is part of the Cocos (Keeling) atoll!

Imagine.

Youre playing a game of Mario Kart

You are racing the two dinghies (Tia and Angkarn), and Tia has an unlimited star power-up and runs circles around Angkarn (literal circles, Tia had to slow down so Angkarn could keep up). I was in Angkarn, hoping to find a blue shell amongst the reefs we were dodging.

It was also a game of Kolorado, which I know my family will know, but for those who dont, its water bumper cars on a river with things splashing at you everywhere! Its an attraction at an amusement park back home in Sweden. The name of the game is whoever gets the most wet has either lost or won, depending on your attitude towards the game. For us, getting wet on the way there was a loss.

Perry and Kyler lost.

Hannah and I won! We strategically sat on the leeward side so as to get the least wet. We also finally got to break out our full foul gear for the first time this voyage!

Home Island was a bit of a tropical ghost town, but it was very beautiful and cozy. I guess when you only have 400 people on an island, there arent that many Oreos or salty chips.

After gearing back up to enter the dinghy and go back to Vela with Rai-Ching and Wylie, we found that Wylie had pockets chock-full of snacks. However, when we saw Riley and Zoe exit the grocery store, we were flabbergasted. Riley was holding a box full of Monsters (not for himself) and Tim-tams and a stuffed backpack, and Zoe had a stuffed tote-bag with fruit loops almost falling out. We wondered if you ate 24 boxes of Tim-Tams, would you turn into a Tim-Tam? Answer: If you ate them fast enough.

Then, when we got back to the boat, we had a late lunch and passage prep! I was tasked with putting up the all-sewn-up flying jib. Keith got drowned by the sail (Maia and I might have drowned him), and as we were putting up the Halyard, Keith was standing on top of the forward staysail boom trying not to sky the Halyard, and it started pouring. AGAIN. We got drenched. AGAIN. (Photo evidence attached).

The sheet change was awesome because we will now be headed on passage for 14 days. Although the boys stole the new awesome pink and purple bed sheets, I ended up with the boring grey ones 🙁 We also almost finished our proposal! Then we had a dinner full of chicken Alfredo (made by Thaxton and Perry) and YUMMY chocolate chip cookies that Payton made!

Now, its time to study more for our upcoming quizzes and exams. And hopefully I can squeeze some Netflix time in before bed, which doesnt happen often (tops 10 minutes every other day). Kind of awesome to disconnect, but also SUPER unfortunately because I am ADDICTED to a new show. Shout out to The Residence. Everyone at home should watch it. Period.

Till familjen dar hemma: alskar er och saknar er massor! Hor av mig sa fort som mojlight med bilder osv. Alskar er!!!
