Hello everyone! My name is Perry, and I am one of the Marine Scientists/Dive Instructors on board Vela. Today started a little later than usual, around 0800, to a wonderful song wake up. Hannah and Batrice made some mixed berry overnight oats that acted as the perfect breakfast. After a quick cleanup, we started our first two classes of the semester. Kyler took the students through an oceanography lecture, followed by Sam introducing some boat terminology through seamanship (nautical science). This took us to lunch; it was almost relaxing just having class after the crazy, busy week we’ve had. After lunch, it was time for stocking up on all of the essentials before we take off for at least 10 days! There was even time to make a stop by the Oranjezicht Market. The market is one of Cape Town’s best farmers’ markets, and it was so nice to take a walk around. After the market, we had some delicious fettuccine alfredo and watched one of our last South African sunsets. Thanks for reading!
