Location: Essaouria, Morocco

Today is market day, and my first day in Morocco, as opposed to the beach days. Sam was very motivated today, and rightly so, as there is an abundance of spices to be had. Otherwise, breakfast went along as usual. Arriving at the entrance was quite the experience, so many people filled the alleyways and the marketplace itself when the place had only been open for barely an hour. I split off with Liv, Luca, Teagan, and Oscar. We started with a small loop around a large set of buildings with tunnel systems winding under and through it. The streets were lined with small niche storefronts and hosted a vast array of bits and bobs to choose from. I might also add that there were a great many pastries to eat as well, and they tasted muy delicioso. After exchanging some more cash, we went off to shop the area. I personally didnt buy anything, but watching the haggling process has brought a new perspective to economics that I have been missing out on.

It was so nice to watch and listen to the different languages all around us, and I have been getting the ever-growing impression that I should fully commit to learning at least one new language. Next, we went and got some more food and drink at an open restaurant that had this bread that tasted just like the bread I would carb-load with before getting out on the field. Later, I learn that Cameron, Teo, Matthew, and Bryson all got sub-par haircuts. They then decided to shave their heads down to buzz-cuts and have now been dubbed the Tennis Heads. I was quite appalled. Otherwise, the place was beautiful, and I am incredibly sad that I couldnt pet any of the hundreds of cats that we saw, and I have a group meeting to attend, so Cheers!
