Location: Galleon Beach, Antigua
With an empty slot for the skipper position, I was once again thrust into leadership. Breakfast frittatas fueled our fire for adventure. While some of us were stuck below deck pushing through a PADI open water certification, the rest of us jumped into the water for our first checkout dive. Highlights included some rays, a peacock flounder, arrow crabs, and a lonely sea cucumber. A decadent feast of cheese toasties and tomato soup gave us the energy we needed for a nautical science course and line coiling practice. Then we embarked on our scenic hike to the mermaid pools, where we explored the shallows and the creatures that call them home. After some of us swam back to Ocean Star, we had an extended shower and swimming period to build up our hunger for our stellar veggie roast. As the PADI students finish up their classroom, the rest prepare for a long night of anchor watch to come. Signing out another day on Ocean Star.
Question of the day: Head, shoulders, knees, or toes?
