Location: Underway to Cocos Keeling

We arose from our slumber this morning with a bittersweet taste of leaving Christmas Island behind for newer shores. However, this did not mean we had to let our woes destroy morale. The students were woken to a symphony orchestral masterpiece, known as “Thneedville” from the hit Pixar movie The Lorax. Very fitting indeed as the opening line is You guessed it, folks good morning. (If you didn’t guess it that’s ok we will get it next time). Anywho, once risen, everyone sauntily made their way to the cockpit for a breakfast spread enough to rival that of a banquet buffet of King Henry VIII. Sam, Adda, and Maia (yes, that Maia, yesterday’s birthday girl!!) had concocted Huevos Rancheros with a delightful twist. Skip through the dishy pit, and students were shuttled to shore for one last hurrah on collectively decided incredible Christmas Island (said hurrah was going to the local supermarket to stock up on goodies, Zeke bought a crate of Red Bull, and I topped up on my mandatory Aussie snacks). Everyone pottered around for a bit and returned to the boat at 10:30 for the final bits and pieces of passage prep. With the final few parts done and Vela ready to tackle the high seas once more, everyone slowly filed away to prep for.

THE EXAM DUN DUN DUN. Later this afternoon, students will be taking their first exam for marine biology with our own in-house resident marine biologist, Perry Owen (shoutout). Skip through the lulls of the day, and then arrived lunch time. Now, shoutout to the creator of Friends, because if that show never happened, then the general public would never have found out what Jennifer Aniston would have eaten on set, and then the butterfly effect, no lunch for us. If I lost you, let me catch you up We had the famous JENNIFER ANISTON SALAD. That’s right, folks, THE JENNY A, an absolute icon and queen of the acting scene: an imposing figure and all those who try to even utter a memorized line of script. Side rant over, the salad was delightful, (OH, there were leftover burgers, how good!). A very hasty scran of food and underway we got, Vera on the MAHHOOSIVE mooring buoy, and Perry and Emma in the dinghy to throw our lines, we departed Christmas Island. We leave for COCOS KEELING, but first, one simply cannot motor; one must sail a sailing vessel, and sail we did. Raising the staysails, then the main, was an endeavor but well worth the sight of Vela under sail. A constant 8 – 8.5knots on a delightful beam reach ( my personal favorite of the reaches). We chilled and relaxed until it was time for meal number 3, sloppy joes. Who is Joe, you may ask? I don’t think anyone knows, I for one don’t, but they were indeed delightful. Now I hear you’re all asking me, what was your squeeze question? Well, I’m glad you asked, it was “What was your favorite childhood book?”. My answer? Well, I have 2, 1The Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton.

Thats all from me herThat’sdnight all.
