Location: Underway to the Caribbean

Were halfway! Thats what people have been saying for the past week; who knows how long weve been out here? But it sure looks like it on the map. Flashback to watch last night. Watch team 2 was hard at work memorizing song lyrics by BigX the Plug and doing our hourly glance for boats. At 8 am today, our day started with Elis, Jesse, Ruby, Liam, and Lillian, who took and aced the NavMaster exam! (Mapping out routes on a chart) Big Mac said our crew had one of the highest averages hes seen! The rest of us on watch team 2 (Lukas, Audrey, Dan, and I) enjoyed a beautiful sunrise.

Meanwhile, in the galley, Cat, Eduardo, and Lillian (she did a lot today) slaved over the hot stove to bring us a cornbread bar for lunch and spaghetti with meatballs for dinner. Tom, our captain, bread maker, and someone who should apply for the great British bake-off made the most delightful garlic bread I have ever tasted. After lunch, we had a quiz on oceanography and then had our last lecture on marine biology! We learned all about how big and beautiful this earth is and how we need to work to preserve it. My favorite quote from the class:
We eat about a credit card of plastic a week- Ruby
So why am I not rich?- Grace C.
Our day ended with big smiles and a striking sunset.

Much love from the Vela crew,
Your skipper, Amy 😉
