Location: Underway to Barbados

Hello yet again, lovely people! Today was a great day. We are steaming right along and making quick pace towards Barbados. This morning started with the 4-8 am, which is my favorite watch. It’s been a rather treacherous sea state since we left Devils Island, so much of our time getting ready for watch is spent wrestling with watertight doors and trying not to trip while putting on foulie pants, all while the deck attempts to become vertical!

After we’d bundled up, we headed on deck to relieve watch team three. It was a pretty peaceful watch with minimal rain, which was nice. We were absolutely flying we hit 11.2kts while I was helming, which was sooo cool. After watch, we went back to bed for a few extra hours of shuteye and awakened to a lovely treat- Nashota and Vittoria made quesadillas for lunch!!

After lunch, we had marine bio with Perry and learned some extremely interesting facts about marine flatworms. Then we had a rather intense Navmaster class, as we are preparing to take our exam in Barbados. Afterwards, I had PSCT class with Henry, Vittoria, Zoe, Kyler, and Emma. We are learning about meteorology, which has been so pertinent to our current inclement weather. Seeing as we are only 8 degrees from the equator, squalls behave erratically and aren’t as predictable as those further north or south. The more you know!

For dinner, we had absolutely divine tomato soup with the fluffiest, most perfect bread rolls. It was exactly what we all needed. There was a beautiful sunset with the prettiest wispy pink cirrus clouds.

Henry sends his warm regards to his family, as usual. Erin sends all her love and hugs to Katie, Michael, and Myers. Grant’s hair is growing back very quickly. Hi, and I love you to my people at home!
