Location: Barcelona, Spain
This entry starts at 12:01 a.m. We had just returned from a fun night out at Port Terraco in Tarragona. As soon as we stepped on the boat, Watson asked, Should I break out the guitar? I gave him an emphatic yes, and soon after, the whole boat was singing Dixieland Delight at the top of their lungs. Watson kept going song after song, even past the point that his fingers were bleeding onto the guitar strings. It was a wonderful end to the night, filled with plenty of singing and dancing. Everyone was looking forward to some rest after such a fun night.
Unfortunately, I couldnt let that happen. I woke everyone up at exactly 5:30 a.m. As you can imagine, many people were reluctant to leave the comfort of their beds, and some were blatantly angry. Despite this, we all were able to get off the boat with our bagels (thanks, Emma) and on our way to Barcelona.
The first stop in Barcelona was Park Gell. We saw all of Gaudis stunning work mixed with the serene gardens. After, we sprinted down the hill toward food and coffee. We were told by someone that the best food was in the Gothic Quarter, only a short taxi ride away. Eduardo, Brendan, McDonald, Eliza, and I waited for a taxi for what seemed like hours. Usually, I dont mind waiting, but the problem was that we were waiting outside a Subway. Now, I understand the prospect of getting Subway while visiting Barcelona, but the smell of those delicious subs was overwhelming. We couldnt help ourselves. After a fantastic lunch, we actually made it to the Gothic Quarter. We meandered for a while through the streets filled with fantastic live music and street performers, plenty of cool shops, and some of the best people-watching I have ever seen. Then we sat down for part two of lunch. It had occurred to us we hadnt tried paella yet. We were soon joined by James, Watson, Luke, Jesse, Lukas, and Theo at the lunch table. After some delicious paella, we explored more of Barcelona, which included frolicking in the streets, going to random cafs to continue Eduardos sandwich tour, and sitting exhausted on random street corners.
Eventually, we all met up for the three train/bus/walk home. We all were super tired from our lack of sleep and long day, so we went to bed soon after returning to the boat.
Overall, it was a fantastic day. Love you.
