What is UPPPPP, guys!!! Today was a super special day for so many reasons. The day started bright and early at 5:30 to get ready to catch the ferry over to Pico Island! We had some awesome overnight oats made by Lucie and her sous chefs for breakfast before getting everyone on the dock and ready to make their way over to the ferry. I stayed back on the boat today, so I didn’t get to see Pico, BUT I heard it was AMAZING! The students went on an island tour and saw all kinds of birds and cows. I think the most jaw-dropping thing to them, though, was the sheer amount of green. As I’m sure you know, we see mostly blue, so some green is pretty special, haha! I also heard that they had an awesome lunch. I guess (according to Nate) there was a choice between a buffet and a burger. From what I’ve heard… the burger was the way to go.

Back here on the boat we got lots of work done! Lots of time in the bilges organizing and cleaning things and just general boat jobs!

For dinner tonight I made Dahl which I have never made before, but (like most things cooked in the galley) you just go with the flow and figure it out! That’s the fun of cooking in the galley! I always love to see what everyone cooks with the ingredient lists that I give them.

Tonight, we had our final night with Ara on board. Her parents flew out to the Azores to pick her up, so we had them over for dinner. It doesn’t happen really ever that we get to have parents on board the boat… never mind for dinner and squeeze, so that was really, really special. The squeeze question tonight was, “What is a moment or a quick story about a time that made you feel extra grateful to be here on Vela.” There were all kinds of amazing answers, such as looking at the stars and that day we got to swim with the pilot whales, but my FAVORITE answer was from Johnathan. His answer was a story about a time when he was the headmaster, and Anda offered to help him clean the heads (I know, so sweet, right?!) But that wasn’t the whole story. Apparently, in between their head cleaning, they would hit the deck and do a set of pushups, yelling “Two..SIX” like we do when we raise sails. Apparently, Johnathan did some 220 pushups that day!

Today was a super special day for me because today marks six months of me living on Vela. She truly is the greatest home in the world, and every day, I wake up so excited and grateful to be here.

But yeah, that was today! Lots of fun was had per usual. Everyone sends lots of love to their family and friends back home. I think I can speak for all of us when I say WE LOVE YOU!

Mom, Dad, Willy GGGG, BET & all of my family and friends back home… I love you all so much, and I miss you like crazy! Sending all the love and hugs 🙂
