Location: East London, South Africa
Finally in London!!! Well, East London.well, actually East London of South Africa. Watch team 1 bright and early at 8 am, being woken up to find out well be pulling into East London in 2 hours, so itll be on our watch that we get our first real look at land ho. During the time before we came in, we all rushed to get the main and forward staysail down, as well as getting everything off the lines with Maia, Peyton, and Adda being in midships getting Ankarn and fenders ready. At about 11 am, we saw whales breach pretty close, a great welcome into East London. While pulling up to our dock area, Zeke and I quickly volunteered to catch the lines from on shore, hopping into the dinghy to get there asap. After Vela was properly secured, we hopped back in and got straight to mini BA, which consisted of amazing music with Alices phone. Even though it was a mini BA, it still took a little while, but it was definitely a lot more fun. Being in East London, it has never been colder on this entire trip until now. I am currently writing this blog with my fuzzy pants on and still freezing. After BA, we had one of our last classes for oceanography, which is so sad, and I hate the thought of it. At the end of Oceanography, Emma came back with provisions, and it was finally all the last-minute Thanksgiving food items that we needed to celebrate Thanksgiving, which will be happening on the 29th. So, to all the families reading this, all of us are so thankful that you were able to send us on this trip and let us have this opportunity. Anyway, after putting everything away, provisioning has gotten so much easier since we finally know where everything goes, and it just goes by in a snap, but when that was finished, we had some last-minute Nautical science review for the navigation test tomorrow, which is pretty big and pretty important. Riley and Sam were very helpful with fully giving us a good rundown. Wylie and Alice cheffed it up by making pizza for everyone with a little side I have some leftover pizza roll cinnamon roll. Then, during our after-dinner announcements, Mac made the big announcement of us having a student-led passage, so now the discussion for who takes what has begun.
p.s. Mom and Dad, Im so thankful for all the opportunities you guys have given me, and I couldnt be more grateful to call you guys my parents. I love and miss you guys lots!!
