Location: Underway to Almerimar, Spain

Good morning, afternoon, or evening wherever you are around the world. I’m Emily, and I have been eagerly awaiting this day to be a skipper and tell people what to do and take pictures for the entire day. And then write about it all after. I woke everyone up with some good tunes and a nice little “good morning sunshine,” which Alexa, of course, helped with. Shout out, Alexa #dreamteam. Chloe and I did some dilly-dallying before breakfast, and we all talked about our plan for the passage to Almerimar. We all knew we were waking up, preparing to be on passage for the next few days, but didn’t know that we were sailing for the first time, off anchor. We even got to go fishing (use the Fisherman’s sail), and do real fishing later on. Watching everyone work together to put the sails up will absolutely be one of the most memorable moments for me on this trip.

I personally don’t have a ton of experience sailing, or even on boats, but I was extremely grateful to watch the majority of the people do what they are so passionate about and genuinely enjoy it. For breakfast and lunch, Alexa made some exquisite meals consisting of chocolate chip scones and pasta salad. After the majority of the sails were up around 2 pm, the day took a slight turn. Alexa and I had to start baking Maria’s carrot cake for her birthday, and let’s just say I am not the best baker. However, I did an amazing job, but the circumstances and waves unfortunately made the cake spill and burn into a solid rock, and we had to cut the first burnt layer of the cake. But we still did candles, and lots of celebrating. Also, shoutout to Maria cause she’s legal now. It was a complete disaster trying to make dinner for everyone, but everyone chipped in somehow or some way and made it work (sort of). The carrot cake and clean up of dinner were also a disaster, so we ended the day off with cracked eggs in the spice cabinet, the trash all over the salon, and baking products practically everywhere. Not to mention Matt spilling his boiling hot ramen all over his lap since he, I guess, thought the boat wasn’t moving or something. Overall, it was a memorable day on Argo to say the least, but it’s always a good day when you end it staring at a clear sky of stars, so no complaints here, besides me and Teo having Instagram reel withdrawals.

PS – Ty and Alana, I am never coming back to CT
