Location: Raja Ampat
Hello from out in the open ocean off Raja Ampat. Today has been a very exciting and interesting day in Indonesia. We woke up this morning off the coast of Kri, and enjoyed some awesome porridge full of fruits, healthy nuts, and seeds. However, the healthiness factor may have been cancelled out by topping it off with a bunch of Nutella. Delicious! A few groups spent the morning diving and enjoying the beautiful ocean environment around here. Late in the morning, just before we ate some scrumptious bean burgers (everyone’s favorite) for lunch, we found out about an earthquake that had happened in Russia, which would be causing tsunami waves that might impact us. Although the waves coming to Indonesia would be quite small, we decided to head out to the open ocean, where we would be sure to be the safest during impact. We’ve spent the afternoon motoring through lots of beautiful islands in the sun to get out to sea to ride out this wave (pun intended). It feels a bit cheeky to say that by now we’ve officially survived a “tsunami” and everyone has enjoyed a beautiful day back out on the sea with the breeze blowing through. We ate a delicious curry with fresh bok choy that delighted many shipmates. At the squeeze, we talked about things that we’d like to do but are maybe a bit nervous or scared to. Hopefully, after this whirlwind adventure, everyone here will have some newfound confidence and understanding of just how incredibly capable they are. Now there’s nothing left to do but enjoy a beautiful sunset and stand watch out here until we start heading to our next destination tomorrow. Hopefully, our night watches are full of good stars and better conversation.
Sending so much love and hugs to my beautiful family! I can’t wait to return from this beautiful adventure to the comfort and joy of your company!
