Location: Fort De France, Martinique
We awoke early this morning for a swift sail from St. Lucia to the first of the French Islands we will visit, Martinique. We made good time, and covered the 35 miles in enough time to arrive before lunch. After lunch we all headed ashore to explore Fort de France, the biggest city we will visit in the Caribbean and experience the difference of French Culture. As we stepped ashore, we had another, even more important mission in mind – to find the elusive gummy smurf candy, which seems to be only available in the French Islands. After a hunt through several island grocery stores, we finally returned triumphant to Ocean Star, gummy smurfs in hand, in time for a delicious dinner of Stir Fried chicken.
