Location: Mediterranean Sea

After multiple days of motoring along to our destination, it was so nice to be able to put up our sails today and enjoy the wind and sunshine. Unlike our passage across the Atlantic, as we continue to sail along the Mediterranean Sea, we are constantly surrounded by large cargo ships, sailing vessels, and fishing boats. The company is nice, but we miss being able to jump into the ocean and swim when the seas are calm and there are no boats in our vicinity. In substitution for a swim, we were able to hose off on deck and enjoy some relief from the Mediterranean heat.

As we near Spain, Zoe and Nora presented today on our next port of call, Tarragona, and our next couple of excursions in Barcelona. Everyone on board is excited to explore these cities and practice their Spanish. After destination presentations, the shipmates enjoyed an oceanography lab where they learned all about mark and recapture.

Lastly, the Galley crew absolutely knocked it out of the park with an incredible build-your-own burrito bar for dinner. My squeeze question this time around was, “What was the most common meal you ate as a child?” When I think about childhood meals, I picture lemon pepper chicken breast, cottage cheese with applesauce on top, and steamed broccoli or asparagus. Cottage cheese seemed to be a polarizing food item to mention, but I stand by it.

During clean up, there was an incident, however… We are calling this incident “Bean Gate.” The details are messy, but the need to know is that while Will was in the gopher hole, someone kept dropping beans on Will’s head. The culprit remains at large, but hopefully, by our next blog, we have some answers for you.

Mom and Dad, I love you and miss you guys. Give Mateo a kiss for me! Annie and Charlie, I miss you both so much! Talk to everyone soon. We all send our love!
