We began with a spectacular sunrise and a delicious English Breakfast before we broke into groups to continue Scuba certifications. Half watched videos in the morning while the other half went out for their very first dive, then they switched roles in the afternoon. Everyone was super excited to get in the water and take their first underwater breaths, but by the time they got back to Vela, they were even more thrilled about what they had seen. Meanwhile, those who were already Open Water certified continued towards their Advanced certifications in the morning and then learned how to tie all sorts of useful knots in the afternoon. Many people jumped in the water for a swim and a shower this evening, which is much more enjoyable than we had previously anticipated in the pristine water of the Mediterranean, aside from some slight encounters with jellyfish. We wrapped up the day with tacos for dinner and ample amounts of talk about cars – an impeccable combination.
