A siege on one of our port heads set the stage for a wonderful dinner conversation about health, hydration, and our… lack of “industrial” toilets. Prior to this, the fun didn’t stop! Continuing to learn the ropes of diving for the inexperienced led to flooded masks, screams of joy (probably), and some beautiful blue water. Though the already certified kids roasted aboard the deck instead of sharpening their whipping skills with our resident Tarzan, Riley. Not actual whipping, I promise – though the dishy pit has occasionally started wars of dish towel whipping. I hope I’m spelling whipping correctly.
The most hysterical part of the day was the absolute insanity of doing math seven days in. When I tell you our brains were swimming, I am not exaggerating. Doing math while slightly crispy and looking into the eyes of several exhausted students roughly equates in stifled giggles, horribly timed jokes and a lot of finger counting. I promise we’re all passing so far, though. Our diligent staff members continue to teach us with a sparkle in their eye, but personally, I’m starting to think it’s due to trying to wrangle 26 vivacious heads.
Parents, I promise we’re all doing well with minimal jelly stings, healthy bathroom habits (for the most part), absolute baller gainers off the bow, and we’re all keeping clean with ocean showers. The downside is salt continues to crust up the eyes and ears. Perks? No one smells like dead sea life yet. Yet.
In this wonderful collection, you will find our cherished memories of dish cleaning (because we’re hardworking children who love to clean. As long as there is music), divers suiting up for basically the equivalent of astronaut training, and poses with the weights that help us sink (it’s a good thing. usually), a selfie from our leadership class (when the prof wasn’t teaching, of course), happy math faces, and our personal favorite night-time happening: Calum’s nighty nighty reading time, with accents!
We’re rolling, dolling, and absolutely sea-shoaling as a big family, learning how to respect each other and count to 33 without stopping. It’s kind of a struggle, though.
Cheerio and Guten Nacht as we finish up our first official week on the boat!
Wish us luck
