Location: Underway to Palau
I haven’t seen land in 13 days, and all I can think about is Five Guys. I’ve been having dreams about meat and cheese and bacon and buns. Two nights ago, my watch team did an exercise called 12 happy thoughts, and 9 of mine were food. This is not to say the food on Argo isn’t amazing. It is. But sheesh, there are few things I wouldn’t give right now for a bacon cheeseburger, all the way, no pickles, no mushrooms, no mustard. The most amazing part is, I’m writing this directly after dinner, and I’m not really even that hungry.
Passage life is interesting. We’ve long since settled into the swing of things, and slowly but surely, our sail handling is getting better. In between classes, we put in a gybe that was really impressively smooth. At one point, I looked back at the helm, and Steph was standing there with a giant smile on her face. I’m really looking forward to getting to Palau and getting a good night’s sleep. Watch makes sleeping a challenge, and as we near the equator, the temperature is increasing notably. I’m really just so thankful for the fan in my bunk. Aidan and I usually never see shooting stars, but last night we saw one of the most incredibly bright shooting stars imaginable. It burned bright green and stayed in the sky long enough for the rest of the watch team to turn and look at it. It was monumental.
