Location: Drawaqa, Fiji
Hi everyone, it’s Elanore and Emily!
This morning, I (Elanore) had a nice swim before breakfast with Olivia. After eating, we had an oceanography lecture and a seamanship class. We raised the sail to go to Druwaqa! It was a four-hour motor. We also started our mega wheel for boat chores, where staff and student crew members rotate around the same wheel of jobs. We went snorkeling when we arrived and anchored right next to a reef pass famous for recurring manta visits. Steph calls it the “sickest coral ever!” and she is right!
Back on the boat, marine biologists from the Project Manta Fiji came to talk about manta rays. We might see some of them tomorrow morning. Tonight may be a movie night. I think we are watching Surfs Up, which would suit our trip well. Cody and Chicken Joe have been referenced a lot in just the past eight days. Some PSCT students have been charting our routes from island to island with Tomer, which is super cool. Other students have taken their try with the helm( steering wheel), while others have worked to put up sails or pull up anchors. It definitely takes a crew and teamwork to get Argo moving.
We did receive our phones back last night, but the service isn’t great, so if you have not been contacted, just know that everyone is alive and having so much fun!!
