Location: Roseau, Dominica
Today, we pulled up anchor at 6 am and headed for dive castaways. After breakfast, we all snorkeled together at Wild Cat Reef. A place where Captain Steve, although with the help of past Sea|mester groups, laid artificial reef balls on the ocean floor in past years. We got into the water and found it to be a bit cooler and murkier than we were used to. However, once we dove below, we soon found the crystal clear, warm Caribbean waters we have become used to. The artificial reef balls were covered with beautiful marine life, from lobsters to juvenile French angelfish, peacock flounder, and moray eels. After our snorkel, we had some time to swim as we waited for lunch to be served. After lunch, we moved to Roseau, where we got some much-needed internet time at a local hotel. We had our marine bio class on deck in the evening and are now calling it an early night, awaiting our 7 am hike to the boiling lake. Dominica is truly a beautiful place, and everyone is looking forward to seeing what tomorrow has in store.
