Location: Underway to Barbados

As full days on passage slip away from us like indigo-hued Atlantic seawater beneath Argo’s hull, the crew, while grateful for the powerful wind and swells propelling us, is perceptibly ready to slow things down and trade in a salt spray for sand and the clearer waters of the Caribbean. Today proceeded as normal – watch rotations peppered with a gazpacho lunch, oceanography, and leadership classes, and watching various individuals fly across the salon (no parents). As always, we ended with a squeeze question, and I asked each crew member to liken the person to their left to any candy. I think we’d all agree that the aptest comparison would be that of Lexi to saltwater taffy (spot-on, I don’t know why). Dinner was succeeded by decadent chocolate chip cookies baked in honor of our staff member Bryant’s birthday today.
I’d like to take a moment to dedicate this blog post to my parents, who are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary tomorrow and to let them know how proud I am of them and how grateful I am for always holding my brother and me to a high standard in the way we carry ourselves and treat others. Congratulations, I can’t wait to celebrate in Antigua.
