Happy happy Fourth of July from Antigua! As the day comes to a close, we all agree that today was a massive highlight of our Ocean Star journey.
We had a wonderful wakeup this morning, with Allie and Meg needing immediate EMS attention (it was justttt a scenario). With the chaos behind us, we started the day with a fantastic breakfast of banana bread (thank you, Allie!!) and made our way to dinghy sailing. I was in the morning group, and BOY, did we have a blast. Boats were boarded and capsized in true pirate fashioncompetition was fierce on the seas today. Nick was a fantastic captain.
We got some shore time to explore the area after. We wandered over to the Antigua Yacht Club to feast on shrimp tacos, teriyaki chicken, burritos, pizza, smoothies (mind-blowing, actually), and acai bowls. Then, it was off to Pigeon Beach for a much-needed dip in the ocean. With the time we had left, we explored Fort Berkeley (and the bakery next door) for some awesome views (check the flics!).
Back on Ocean Star, we had backflip lessons from flip-masters Eric and Nick off the side of the boat. Im happy to announce pretty much all of us successfully flipped (no injuries, no worries). Post-ocean showers, we dressed up only to take a spectacularly sweaty hike up to Shirleys, where we had what I would argue was the best night ever. The food, the music, the dancing, and the immaculate vibes had us cheesing all around. I wish words could describe what a great night we had; you really just had to be there.
We left the barbeque still grooving and singing the National Anthem in honor of the holiday, our spirits still high. Back on O-Star, were still vibing and enjoying our final nights together.
XOXO back home! Missing you all.
Cheers,
Hana
