Today we began with another early wakeup and a rainy departure for Dominica. Although the morning started with a little sleepiness, we picked up the pace and were looking like sailors again well before lunch time. The sail was an exciting one, with some of our highest speeds yet. During lunch we were cruising at a whopping 9.5 knots, which made eating Nips’ potato salad a demanding task, but enjoyable nonetheless. The high point of our day came when we saw two sperm whales right off our starboard side, which was a delightful surprise for everyone. We tacked into our anchorage and ended the day with a relaxing shower, dinner and an Oceanography class.
