Our first day of diving was somewhat chaotic as we filled tanks, checked equipment, and generally left our BCDs in big wet piles on the deck. We split off into groups, with half going out before lunch and the other half afterward. For most of us with no previous SCUBA experience, it was a long but exciting day involving basic tests and drills and simply becoming acclimated to breathing while underwater. After dinner, we went below for dive class and learned how to use our dive tables to figure out safe diving depths and times to remain underwater. Pretty tired out after a day in the water getting used to our equipment, most of us headed to our bunks shortly afterward, intent on getting some quality sleep. There’s lots more diving tomorrow, so it’s important to be well-rested!
