Location: Savannah Bay, Virgin Gorda
The second day actually at sea started with 7 am wake up and breakfast of muffins, eggs, and excitement for our first try at sailing. We started off with a lecture full of new words and demonstrations on how to take up and ease lines. After mastering sweating and making up cleats for the sail, we were ready to get underway for our first sailing passage. We spent the late morning and early afternoon sailing to our first stop at Savannah Bay. After lunch, the open water students got to go in the water for a skills dive, and everyone else hung out and snorkeled around the small reef surrounding the boat. After dinner, we had our first round of squeeze, a Sea|mester tradition to learn more about our fellow crew members.
