Location: Les Saintes
Today the students of Ocean Star rose to the sight of the massive sail-cruise ship Wind Surf passing closely by as it made its way into the Saintes. With our new neighbors dropping anchor, we had a morning of back-to-back Oceanography and Marine Biology classes followed by the afternoon off to explore the French island, taste some local cuisine, and stock up on baguettes for the next few days. While ashore, students and staff explored the fort, the cafes, boutiques, and especially the ice-cream parlors and even found time to goof off a bit at the local playground. After dinner was study time with the exception of a handful of students and resident oceanographer Emma, who couldn’t resist heading into town after dark for an exciting pick-up game of football on the local field. Bonne Nuit et a laprocaine! Cheers.
