We celebrated Thanksgiving today. Its a couple of days later than our friends and family back at home, but adding in a rocking boat to the chaos that was a full day of cooking would have been perhaps a bit too much, so we waited until we were docked and relatively stable. We started the day off with breakfast, then went straight into cooking, with a small break for a beautifully served charcuterie board upon which people could graze as they continued to prepare our feast. It was nonstop cooking and baking until the moment that dinner was served, and the galley and salon are in absolute shambles. Almost everyone contributed, and all the food was so amazingly good I ate way too much, as everyone should on Thanksgiving. We enjoyed the delectable dishes we had created under the soft glow of sunset and the perfect ambiance of fairy lights strung up around the gallows (Mother, you would have loved it).
After dinner, we planned a mutiny. Our squeeze question was if (when) we stage a mutiny against our captain, how would you do it? And everyone had some great ideas that I will be keeping in my back pocket, should the occasion arise.
Such an occasion may just be appearing on the horizon, as the student-led passage fast is approaching. There are four positions up for grabs (Navigator, Chief Engineer, Chief Mate, and Skipper), and we held elections tonight for who is going to hold which position. Everyone gave their speeches after dinner, and we will all cast our votes after cleanup so I fear the results of the election will have to wait until tomorrows blog.
This is me signing off for the last time, and happy Thanksgiving to everyone at home!
