Location: Horta, Azores

The sun rises over Vela and her crew once again. What is in store for us today, you ask? Well… it all started at 5:30 in the morning. We all groggily hopped onto a ferry and traveled to the nearby Pico Island. It was there where we split into two groups. Some of us climbed 2,351 meters to the summit of an extinct volcano by the name of Mount Pico and witnessed a life-changing spectacle. And some of us explored lava tubes below the cows grazing on the rolling hills, hiked through a moss-caked forest, visited a whaling museum, and explored a majestic cliffside where the water pounded the lava rock. After reuniting at the island’s coast, we hopped on the ferry and set off for our home away from home. Another day has come and gone, bringing with it new memories and experiences that will be valued for the rest of our lives. I cant wait to see what’s in store for tomorrow. This is Joshua Rubenstein Signing off.

P.S. Shoutout to my Mom and Dad. Love you guys!!!
