Location: Basse Terre, St. Kitts
Today was another beautiful day here in the Caribbean surrounded by friends. We woke up in beautiful St. Kitts with the sun shining bright, and after a filling breakfast, we packed our bags, put on our sunscreen, and set out for Fort Brimstone sitting high above the sea. Once we were all on the dock, we boarded a van with our diver/tour guide “Magic” for a wonderful tour around the local area. We saw lots of chickens and goats on our ride to the fort, along with beautiful architecture and historic sites. After arriving at the base of the mountain, we disembarked our bus and began to hike the rest of the way to the fort thought the trees, which was amazing! Along the way, we stopped for a great group picture. Once we got to the top, we had a wonderful view of the town below with a beautiful blue sea backdrop. The fort was in unbelievable condition and was truly a sight to see, with its towering walls and all of the restorations it looks as if it was brand new. After walking the fort, we loaded into the van and headed back into town, where we got to walk the shops and get a refreshing cold drink. We also got some more provisions from a local store for the ship before we jumped back into the small boats and headed back to our home on Ocean Star. After working on some homework as a crew, we finished off the day with a delicious dinner in the fading light of yet another beautiful Caribbean sunset. Spirits are high, and everyone is excited to set off on our next adventure tomorrow.
