Location: Nevis
Today, we woke up to a delicious breakfast of oatmeal. After breakfast, we headed to Nevis, and Barry, our faithful taxi driver, drove us to the Golden Rock Hotel, where we would start our 2-mile hike up Mt. Nevis that takes you to the source of the island’s water. The hike took about an hour and a half. We saw monkeys and baby pigs in the trees. The hike was beautiful and in the rainforest. It was pretty slippery in some places, but not bad at all. The top of the hike ends at the waterfall. To get to the waterfall, you have to climb a scary-looking ladder. The way back down, another 2 miles, was not as strenuous, but the trail and scenery were just as pretty. After the hike, we ended up back up at the Golden Rock and ate a delicious lunch of various sandwiches and soups. The Golden Rock has one of the oldest cannons in the Caribbean. The view from there was amazing. After lunch, we had a few hours of shore time and then returned to Ocean Star. Tonight, we have a student leadership class with Kevin. Today was hard but rewarding and breathtaking.
