Location: English Harbour, Antigua

Today was our last free day within Nelsons Dockyard, Antigua. Most of us spent this free time either packing or working on note cards that we will be giving to each other at the end of tonight. We woke up to an amazing breakfast of cap’n crunch pancakes (yes, you read that correctly). A wonderful blend of finely crushed powder seemingly woven into the fabric of the pancake batter left us purely and simply mesmerized. I give credit to Josh for such a heavenly fabrication. In other words, they were dankalicious. I had so many that I had to fall asleep for the rest of the morning. Many of us then went out for lunch and came back to a bunch of people watching Ratatouille.

It is hard to reflect on the journey behind me when all I have really done for the past 88 days is go at a nonstop and sometimes even unnerving pace. It takes time to process all the experience and growth that has happened. I cannot say that I am able to put everything I learned into words, yet I may never be able to. As of now, I leave you with an exquisitely written rap and a quote.

Yo

and be happy with true Caribbean style

“The seas’ only gifts are harsh blows and occasionally the chance to feel strong. I don’t know much about the sea, but I do know that that’s the way it is here. And I also know how important it is in life, not necessarily to feel strong but to be strong. Measure yourself at least once. To find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions, facing the blind, deaf storm alone with nothing to help you but your hands and your own head.” – Christoper M.
