Location: Underway to Rarotonga
We started our first long passage from Bora Bora, French Polynesia, to Rarotonga, Cook Islands, today. Rarotonga is 540 miles away from Bora Bora. It will take us about three and a half days to arrive there. We started off this morning by doing all the pre-passage preparation and getting the boat ready to sail. After breakfast, we left French Polynesia, where we had stayed for the past three weeks. Goodbye, French Polynesia! During the rest of the day, everyone worked with his or her watch team for a four-hour shift each time. During time off, people sleep, hang around on the deck, or watch movies. We had two classes after lunch. The first day was a little bit rough as some of us were still taking time to adjust to the new moving motion of the ocean and got seasick. The sunset, stars, and sunrise on the sea looked amazingly beautiful. The first day of passage from French Polynesia to Rarotonga went smoothly, and we are now looking forward to the rest of the journey.
