Location: Vela
Wassup Vela Fans, Ben here!
Today everyone finally got to stretch their legs. A hike led by Smash and Tom kept the team busy for most of the day. They started in town and walked along a narrow dusty track until the arid island became a lush rainforest. At this point, the group came upon the most beautiful waterfall I’ve ever seen. It was surrounded by light blue pools, which provided a much-needed cool down opportunity. The entire ridge of the fall was covered in petrified tree roots, and behind the cliff was a hidden cave lined with strange white crystals. Another boat crew was at the waterfall, and strangely their ship is also called Vela. After swimming, chilling, and negotiating for the branded kit of the Other Vela crew, everyone ate lunch and began the walk back into town. While waiting for a dinghy lift back, people got to chill at a restaurant and enjoy some cold drinks and food not cooked in our galley (not that our food is bad).
That’s it for today, really. Right now, most people are either relaxing or working on their Oceanography assignments while I’m marking their final Marine Biology Essays.
The trip is coming close to an end, but we are going to make every second count!!!
