Crazy to think that today was our final day in the BVI! After a very busy night and morning putting away all of the provisions, getting fuel from the dock into the boat, and prepping the ship for setting sail, we finally did it and set sail for the Azores. However, before we did that, we had a quick competition- who could put on their Gumby suit on the fastest… the answer is Natalie, but in everyone’s defense, it was harder than you would think, and it was quite warm in the suits. We also said our first goodbye to one of our crew. Sadly, Eduardo had to leave us today, but we did get one last group hug in and did his squeeze question tonight after dinner. As for the most exciting part of the day, WE PUT UP THE SAILS! While my leading of putting up the sails was iffy at best, everyone did a spectacular job, and at the time of writing this, we are going about eight kts. As the BVIs grow smaller in the distance, we’ve set our sights forward to the open ocean and, eventually, the Azores.
We love and miss you all,
