Location: Gibralter
I can’t believe that we have officially crossed an ocean! We have come so far! I began the day by waking up at 4 am for watch, which was pretty amazing because of the things that we saw! For the past few days, it has been cloudy, so we have not seen many stars during watch. However, today it was extremely clear, and the stars were showing off! I believe that I saw a total of 4 shooting stars, and that’s a lot for me, considering I usually see no more than one shooting star during watch. Also, it was really cool seeing a ton of boats all around us! Most of the boats were cargo ships, and they were HUGE! Watch went by very quickly, and I went directly to bed right after watch ended. I woke up a little bit before noon, and when I went up on deck, I could see land! I saw not one continent but 2! I could see Africa and Europe at the same time while we were going through the strait of Gibraltar. I could not stop staring at the land while eating my lunch. It was magical. After lunch, we took our crew exam, which was our final assignment for our seamanship course. Next, we took an oceanography quiz. After the quiz, we played a game to study for the oceanography exam that was coming up in a few days. If anyone was wondering, my team won. After studying, we went up on deck because we were told that there were sunfish! The next thing I knew, we were docked in Gibraltar! Dinner was amazing, especially because I got to eat a ton of bread. We got news that there are bathrooms and showers on shore, which was the first thing that I ended up doing in Gibraltar. I can’t wait to continue exploring this beautiful place!
