Location: V&A Waterfront Cape Town

Argo got into the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town 5 weeks ago after having sailed 6,500 nautical miles from Bali. Since getting in, her crew has been hard at work on deck sanding and varnishing the teak, pulling out both anchor chains for some serious TLC, and filling her up with 12000 liters of fuel for the journey ahead. Yesterday, the team provisioned food for the first 50 days of our voyage, which resulted in a receipt that’s 7 times taller than Kackie (evidence attached) and a literal truckload of food being unloaded and stored away inArgo’ss various cupboards, bilges, and hidey holes all under the curiously watchful eyes of our friendly neighborhood seals.

This morning was spent giving Argo a final deck wash and polishing all of the teak and stainless, and just as the noon gun (this is an actual canon in Cape Town that goes off every day to signal high noon!) fired, our first shipmates arrived. Benny, Isaac, Zach, and Eli were the first aboard, followed shortly by Cecily and Kara, with Olympus, Madeline, Nini, KiKi, and Sylver not too far behind. Everybody settled in, and then we all enjoyed dinner together, followed by a crash course in the dishy pit!

With the arrival of Darien early tomorrow, Argo’s crew will all be onboard and ready for the adventure that lies ahead. Before we depart Cape Town for St Helena, we have some epic excursions planned. We will be Kayaking with Penguins, hiking up the Lions Head trail to get some breathtaking views of Table Mountain, and back on to the waterfront where Argo is berthed and exploring Robben Island.
