Whale, whale, whale
Today started at 6:07 AM when watch team 3 (the Burritos/hot tamales/etc.) were in the process of raising the fisherman sail.
HOLD! HOLD! Heather shouted from the helm. WHALE!!!
We all rushed to the port side to search the ocean for said whale, and low and behold, there it was. We yelled down the hatches to wake everyone from their slumbers, and everyone hurried to the deck to see a pilot whale spouting about. Those who were able to catch glimpses celebrated with glee, and those who didnt go back to sleep. But then later, after lunch, we heard another voice yell WHALE! and everyone was able to see a minke whale off our stern, and all were happy.
Between all the whale-deserved whale sightings, we had a nice tomato soup and quesadilla lunch experience, and then those who are taking oceanography presented their literature review topics. We covered topics ranging from artificial reefs to jellyfish, mangroves, microplastics, and more. After our minds were nicely molded with science, we fine-dined on some baked beans, potatoes, and eggs while Max and Tia serenaded us with guitar and jolly song. All the while, we had some pretty big whales carrying the boat.
Big happy birthday to Duncans mom, Angela!
