Location: Admiralty Bay, Bequia
After breakfast and communication class, the day was free giving time for a more thorough exploration of Bequia, or time to study. Most of the crew visited the Sargeant Brothers model boat workshop, and a few of us made some exciting purchases of whaling sloops. In the afternoon a couple of the craftsmen paid a visit to Ocean Star, to view the boat, with the hope that they will build a model of her. Others enjoyed some local food ashore and bought local herbs and spices at the local fruit market, and jewelry crafted locally by Willy, who paddled out to visit us on the boat. Another local craft everyone was keen to see was the Scrimshaw knives made by Sam McDowell, and a few invested in some beautifully crafted knives. It was a good day for getting some extra coastal navigation homework in, and a few of us enjoyed a nice swim over by the beach. The day ended with a free evening to enjoy some time together.
