Location: Civitavecchia

Our journey started bright and early today at 5:20 am! After breakfast and lots of hurried packing, we set off for the train station to Rome! As soon as we arrived, we split into groups and sought out some snacks and coffee.

Our first destination was the Trevi fountain. Here, we took coins and threw them into the fountain over our shoulders, which means we will return to Rome someday! Everything was going great, and Jac especially loved the walls and statues.

After the fountain, we found a cafe and dined on Italy’s famous gelato. In my opinion, Tiramisu was the best flavor. The next place we visited in Rome was the Pantheon: An ancient roman building that showed incredible history as one of the best-preserved monuments in Rome! We then split up for lunch and ate some delicious Italian food. Some people then walked to the Vatican, and others just walked around the city for the rest of their free time.

Then, it was finally time for the tour of the Colosseum!!! Everyone was amazed at how it was built and run in the ancient days. We learned about the different events it held and their importance to Ancient Rome’s society. We ended our trip in Rome by going next door to the Forum to see some ruins. We all sat around and imagined what it would be like in its prime and how different life was back then.

When we returned to the boat, we reminisced on our time in the city as we ate a delicious meal of “pasta salad.” Everyone loved our time in Rome, as it is so different from many of our current homes. Exploring the city was an adventure that everyone loved and will remember well!!!
