Location: Antigua

After a few days of traveling for some, the lugging of very stuffed suitcases through airports for most, and a very short hop from the dock onto the deck of Argo for all, the Spring 2012 crew of Argo is complete and ready for an adventure. Just like all the days to come, today was packed to the brim with activity. After a delicious breakfast and compliments from Britt, Graham, and Jake, the first thing on the schedule for the day was a sit-down chat about the Student Handbook and the experience that is in store. Following a quick lunch, we packed our bags with water, sunscreen, and cameras and took off on a hike to the old British lookout at Shirley Heights. Along the way, Matty got our brains working with a tidal pool lab at the Pillars of Hercules, which was made even cooler, as the backdrop was a regatta where the minimum length requirement to participate is 80 feet. From the top, the view from Shirley Heights was perfectly described in Kimmery’s awe, “I can’t believe this is my life for the next three months.” Now, as the evening comes to a close, the crew of Argo looks tired from a long day in the Antiguan sun but more than excited to see what the next day will bring.
