All Sea|mester voyages are educational in nature and we ensure that all enrolling shipmates embark on their own voyage of personal learning as a large part of their experience with us.
During all full length voyages, students are required to participate in four academic/educational classes and the course requirement for our shorter voyages is correspondingly less. During a Caribbean Voyage, students participate in up to four core classes. During a Global Voyage students participate in two core classes and then select a further two electives. Course availability is dependent upon voyage location and duration. An overview can be seen below.
*Summer 66-day voyages are limited to three academic courses (9 credits): Basic Seamanship, Oceanography and Student Leadership Development. Additionally, it is likely that the scuba certifications offered during these shorter courses would be limited due to our sailing schedule.

A full semester load of 12 academic credits is available on every full length voyage for those who choose to select credit options for all four of the academic classes. Additionally, during certain Global Voyages, shipmates interested in pursuing a career within the maritime industry may opt for a more professional training route. Please visit the Accreditation Information section of this website for more information on the costs and transferability of academic credit.
