Greetings, dear readers,
Welcome to another Vela blog special! Today we had a faaaaantastic day, starting off bright and early at 5:45! The crew woke to the calming voice of Hozier, specifically his cover of Do I Want To Know. We then had a speedy breakfast and got in our taxi at 6:50 to head to some surfing! And can I say, the surfing was just amazing. Everyone was able to stand up multiple times! By the end, we were practically professionals. Unfortunately, we were all having too much fun to remember to take photos, but alas. We then explored the area just around the surf shop for a few hours, then headed back to Vela, where we got right into passage prep to head to Union Island, part of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Everyone worked super hard to get the boat ready, and in no time, we were off to our next destination. We split into two groups to race to raise the forward stay sail and the main stay sail – the forward won, however, we think a rematch is in order very soon. We then had a fantastic dinner of pancakes and turkey bacon made by the lovely Perry and Hannah Y. Now we are motor sailing our way into a lovely sunset and can’t wait to see some new islands tomorrow!
