Location: Pacific Ocean
I had a rough start to the day with the 4- 8 a.m. watch. We saw a fishing boat, which was exciting because we havent seen any other person or land for around 4 days now. We are all growing closer in our watch teams and learning more about each other and life at sea every day now. In the afternoon, we had a fire drill where we learned how to start the electric fire pump and set up the fire hose. We then did some emergency first responder training where we learned how to do CPR, primary and secondary assessments, and protect the spine after injury. We each got turns pretending to be unconscious and being treated, which was a nice break from usual classes. We were quizzed on identifying marine animals, which is much easier after you have seen them while diving and snorkeling. We ended dinner with the squeeze question, What is something about you that no one on this boat knows? It was hard for everyone, but especially for the staff. It was good to know that we have come so close that it is hard to find something about each other that we dont know.
Everyone out there should enjoy your continuous sleep tonight, because on Argo that is precious and we are missing it deeply.
