Location: Nevis

We woke up bright and early today, rushing to shore to meet our guides for a hike to some waterfalls up the main mountain after eating what can only be described as banana bricks. The hike itself was breathtaking, following a winding path through the dense jungle, among massive trees with wall-like roots as tall as we were. We ate lunch at the top, then descended for a surprise: hot springs! We gladly soaked in the naturally-heated water before heading back to town to wander around for a while. Some folks got smoothies, some got milkshakes, and two of us (*cough cough Elling and Rohan cough cough*) nearly got tetanus after insisting on going barefoot for the entire two-hour walk through town.
Luckily, we all made it back intact and happy, right in time for a quick lesson on how to plot our position on a nautical chart. Then some very spicy chili was had for dinner, and right after this, we’ll all go prepare for the advanced scuba dives tomorrow: buoyancy and navigation!
