Location: Pacific Ocean
My watch team started the day with the 4-8 watch – normally a great time to watch the sunrise, but this morning was so overcast that we barely noticed as the sky slowly got lighter and lighter, without any sight of the sun. The clouds and little showers of rain at least helped to keep us cool, and we left watch, hopeful that the wind would keep building and we’d be sailing by the afternoon. Watch team 3 raise the main sail (led by Sandra!! Yay, Sandra!!), but we continued to motor as there wasn’t quite enough wind to get by with. For lunch, Mac made us a delicious salad and chicken bake, and following clean up was Oceanography with Sam and Leadership with Tomer. I did not go to either class because I am not a student, but I’m sure it was a fun and educational time! After class, Jack helped me with a fuel transfer, and I learned what we’ve been talking about when we refer to the sauna (spending twenty minutes in the engine room). Dinner was a shepherd’s pie, which was so delicious that Ash suspected Mac must’ve used butter in the vegan dish (he didn’t; it was just soy milk!) Our squeeze question was tell us your favorite ice cream flavor in your best Batman voice. This revealed that a lot of people like chocolate ice cream, and also a lot of people have not seen Batman, except for Gabe – he answered first as Christian Bale’s Batman, then Will Arnett’s (from Lego Batman?). After the squeeze, we dropped the main sail 🙁 Because the wind has died off again. Post clean up I made a secret snack treat that everyone was very curious about, but they will find out what it is tomorrow. For now, some of them think that I drink several cups of melted butter sometimes because that was my cover story.
Today may not have been very eventful sailing-wise, but there is some big news on the social side – CLOA (coffee lovers of Argo) held its first official meeting (ironically, I was asleep at this time, so I could not attend)! They’re a little behind Coco Fit Club, which has been meeting every night on the stern for several days now, but we’re happy for them. If you want to follow along with Coco Fit, we’re on a 3-minute plank tomorrow! If you want to follow along with CLOA, probably just drink a cup of coffee each day that isn’t instant coffee – extra points if you grind your own beans by hand. There’s also apparently a party planning committee, but they’re very elusive. Hi, Mom and Dad and Eleanor! Love you guys, and happy birthday, E 🙂
